Suffering with a stomach ulcer? Consider whether you should be treating with medication or not. Simple chiropractic adjustments may be your answer.
A 22 day study of stomach ulcers examined the effectiveness of ulcer treatment via medication verses treatment through chiropractic adjustment. Using an endoscope to see the inside of the stomach, 35 patients were diagnosed with stomach ulcers and randomly divided into two groups. While both groups ate the same meals, group one received chiropractic adjustments for 22 days. Group two received traditional drug therapy. The effectiveness of each approach was evaluated weekly with an endoscopic test.
Results showed that patients who received chiropractic adjustments experienced pain relief in an average of 3.8 days, and clinical remission of the ulcer in an average of 10 days earlier than those patients treated by drugs.
The science behind the study suggests that chiropractic adjustments treated a hidden misalignment in the spine that was interfering with nerve messages to the stomach. Once the misalignment was corrected, the patient’s bodies were in a better position to heal the ulcers naturally.
