Could Chiropractic Adjustments Halt Parkinsons/MS?
Chiropractic care may stop or even reverse the symptoms of Parkinsons disease and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), according to the August 2004 issue of the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research.
A study examined 81 patients suffering from Parkinsons disease and MS. During pre-treatment information gathering, it was revealed that 78 of the 81 patients had experienced at least one traumatic head or neck injury at least 2 months to 30 years prior to the onset of their disease. Past research proposed there might be a link between head and neck injuries and the development of Parkinsons and MS.
For the action phase of the study, all 81 patients received regularly scheduled chiropractic adjustments in an effort to correct misalignments present in their spines.
In the study, 34 of the Parkinsons patients and 40 of the MS patients experienced fewer symptoms after receiving chiropractic adjustments.
In the Parkinsons group, 16 showed significant improvement, 8 showed moderate improvement and 11 showed minor improvement. Improvement in the MS group showed 28 significant, 8 moderate and 5 minor.
Patients who experienced improvement from chiropractic treatments went on to have no further progression of disease symptoms for a period spanning 1-5 years.
This study shows us that eliminating or lessening spinal misalignments, which interfere with communication signals sent between the brain and the body, can allow our bodies to begin the healing process against many types of symptomatic health challenges.
