Golf for Longer Life?

Go ahead; take the afternoon off to play a round of golf—it’s good for your health and can lead to a longer life, provided that you walk the course instead of ride in the golf cart.

A study conducted by the Swedish medical university Karolinaska Institutet, and recently published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, tracked the health of 300,000 Swedish golfers. Results from this study indicate that avid golfers of any sex, age, and socioeconomic background can increase their life expectancy by five years. Golfers with a low handicap have the longest life expectancy.

The average round of golf can last 4 to 5 hours, which includes walking at a fast pace for several miles. This is where the real health benefits are found. Of course, this study does not rule out that other lifestyle factors—such as healthy eating—can play a part in prolonging life.

Other interesting data collected from this study suggests that golfers from blue-collar professions will experience greater health benefits from golf, compared to golfers that come from white-collar professions. Either way, it’s clear that exercise is a vital key to longer living.

U.S. is last in healthcare

Read this story that says that when we are compared with Germany, Britain, Australia and Canada we spent more and have the deliver the poorest care of the bunch.

There was also a study done by the WHO (World Health Organization) that ranked the U.S. 37th among countries in quality of healthcare systems (after Costa Rica), yet we spend much more than any other country.

We also kill almost 200,000 people a year due to medical errors.

You can opt-out of the U.S. health care system by staying healthy through chiropractic care and avoiding prescription medication.

Evil Cinnamon roll

I' m on the fourth day of the Master Cleanser-a fast consisting of ingesting nothing but lemonade, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. So far so good, since I've made it past the dreaded day #3 -where you generally feel lousy from the detox process.

The only thing that almost sidetracked me was seeing this huge cinnamon roll in the refrigerator! (thanks, Xiomara!) Other than that, smooth sailing.

If you want to read the master cleanser book, you can find it at Amazon.com

DNA Protected Against Damage by Olive Oil

As a primary component of the Mediterranean Diet (MD), research has shown that olive oil elicits a number of health benefits, including maintaining bone and colon health. Research has also started to discover that the polyphenol content of olive oil increases antioxidant levels and contributes significantly to its health benefits.

Now a new study has found more health benefits of olive oil, this time in helping keep our DNA healthy and protected against oxidation.

In the study, researchers gave 25 milliliters of olive oil with either low, medium, and high phenolic content to 182 males and measured urinary levels of DNA oxidation for 2 weeks. Read Entire Article
