Chiropractic Improves Athletic Performance

A new study reveals that bicyclists can improve their performance by undergoing a short program of chiropractic care.

The study involved six people, 4 male and 2 female. Three of the males and both females were competitive racers.

Initially, the subjects were tested to determine their base line performance. Using a CompuTrainer--a stationary, computerized machine that allows the rider’s personal bike to be attached to it—each bicyclist participated in a race simulation. Researchers then recorded various data regarding strength, pressure and force. After the test, each biker was examined and adjusted by a chiropractor, then retested on the CompuTrainer one to two weeks later.

A poll of the riders found that five reported a lower perceived effort of how hard they were working at the same workload during the retest. Five of the riders also experienced improvement in pedaling performance. These results indicate that a bicyclist can ride longer before fatiguing.

Chiropractic adjustments improve all aspects of body performance by correcting misalignments of the spine, which interfere with nervous system and the body’s ability to function at 100 percent capacity. If this is what chiropractic adjustments can do for bicyclists, just image how beneficial chiropractic adjustments will be to your everyday living!

How Chiropractic Works

Our body is made up of trillions of cells that form our tissues and organs. Those cells are connected to our brains by way of a vast network of nerve pathways, known as our nervous system. Your brain directs and controls all body function by sending messages down your spinal cord to reach every tissue and organ in your body.

Every cell of your body is in constant contact with your brain, controlling your heart beat, blood pressure, digestion, immune system, liver and kidney function, blood cell production, body movement, etc. But when a misalignment of the spine occurs, some of your body’s nerve pathways get blocked, inhibiting brain to cell communication. This blockage interferes with the body’s ability to heal itself and work properly. The scary part is that many people have a spinal misalignment and they don’t even know it. They do not feel discomfort in their back, but the misalignment may be secretly causing problems elsewhere in their body. That’s why receiving chiropractic adjustment on a regular basis is so important to good health.

Chiropractors are rigorously trained for eight years to evaluate the health and alignment of the spine, and its impact on the rest of the body. The treatment delivered by chiropractors is a very safe and painless procedure—so safe that it won’t even harm the spine of a tiny infant.

Chiropractic adjustment restores the normal nerve flow from the brain to the body, and back again. In order for your energy to be strong and for your to feel and function at your best, it is imperative that your spine be checked and adjusted to remove misalignments on a regular basis.

Are you Buying Expired products?

According to a June 20, 2008 report in Consumer Affairs online, those chain store pharmacies that sell everything from medication to food may be tricking you into buying potentially dangerous expired foods and medications.

During a recent undercover shopping operation in southern California, state investigators found 48 expired products in 26 different CVS stores. Products that were old and expired—yet still on the shelves for sale—included baby food, toddler food, milk, eggs and over-the-counter medication. Price tags had been placed over the “sell by” dates to conceal the fact that the products were past expiration.

Federal law declares that most consumer products must display a valid expiration or sell by date. Oddly enough, it’s not exactly against the law for a store to sell a product that is past its expiration date. But it does become a matter of false advertising when a store that prides itself on selling fresh and current products begins to carry old and out-dated items without informing consumers of their practice.

If you live somewhere other than California, don’t assume that you’re in the clear. CVS stores in New York were also found to engage in these unlawful selling practices.

So how do you know which stores are trustable? Don’t assume anything and become a label reader. Do your homework, look for expiration dates and make wise decisions regarding the foods and products you put in your body. Better yet, avoid medications and processed foods at all costs by eating a healthy diet that includes plenty of fresh produce. And be sure to further optimize your health by making regularly scheduled chiropractic adjustments a part of your lifestyle.

Can Gardasil kill you?

More than 8000 Complaints about Gardasil, including Death
By Michael Dorausch, DC

It's ugly looking news for the makers of Gardasil, a vaccine that is intended to guard against four strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). A blizzard of news reports are out today, regarding complaints involving the shot, which reportedly number over 8000, and include numerous reported cases of paralysis and at least 18 deaths. Meanwhile, the vaccine maker is standing by its product, and the Centers for Disease Control suggests there is no reason to believe the deaths are linked to Gardasil.

Shares for the maker of the vaccine, Merck, fell sharply today amid a worry over future Gardasil sales. The vaccine has apparently been a blockbuster for the ginormous drug manufacturer, as an estimated 8 million females have already received HPV vaccination via the companies product. Currently, they have the market cornered on vaccines of this nature, as Glaxo's Cervarix vaccine continues to face delays, it is not expected to win US approval until late 2009.

syringesAccording to several news reports, information regarding adverse effects (or side effects) of the vaccine jab became available via the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) thanks to the Freedom of Information Act. Watchdog websites like Judicial Watch (Judicial Watch Uncovers New FDA Records) published reports with details on vaccine adverse reactions, which included 10 deaths since September of 2007 (and possibly as many as 20), 140 "serious" reports which are categorized as "life-threatening", 10 reports of spontaneous abortions, and six cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system), of which there is reportedly no known cure.

Amongst the "serious" reports made to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) is a case concerning a 23-year-old female who was vaccinated with her 1st dose of Gardasil on January 31 of 2008. The patient reportedly experienced anaphylactic shock 2 minutes after vaccination, which can be considered to be immediately life-threatening. Another involved a 14 year old female who suffered an immediate postinjection reaction. After receiving the shot, the young girl reportedly took 6 steps, fell to the ground unconscious and had a 60 second grand mal seizure.

Vaccine advocates will claim fear mongering and interference from preventing daughters dying of cervical cancer, while parents of those children that have suffered injuries (or death), or those believing this may be a huge medical experiment, will be increasingly calling for elected officials and public health representatives to be more transparent regarding the risks associated with vaccination programs such as the HPV and cervical cancer campaign.

Regardless of which side of the fence you may sit on, there's no questioning that soliciting expert advice and researching trusted resources is the way to go when deciding whether or not to vaccinate.

Golf for Longer Life?

Go ahead; take the afternoon off to play a round of golf—it’s good for your health and can lead to a longer life, provided that you walk the course instead of ride in the golf cart.

A study conducted by the Swedish medical university Karolinaska Institutet, and recently published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, tracked the health of 300,000 Swedish golfers. Results from this study indicate that avid golfers of any sex, age, and socioeconomic background can increase their life expectancy by five years. Golfers with a low handicap have the longest life expectancy.

The average round of golf can last 4 to 5 hours, which includes walking at a fast pace for several miles. This is where the real health benefits are found. Of course, this study does not rule out that other lifestyle factors—such as healthy eating—can play a part in prolonging life.

Other interesting data collected from this study suggests that golfers from blue-collar professions will experience greater health benefits from golf, compared to golfers that come from white-collar professions. Either way, it’s clear that exercise is a vital key to longer living.

Doctrine of signatures

The fascinating observation that the external form or color of a substance reveals its medicinal use is known as the Doctrine of Signatures. It has been around for thousands of years. Here are some examples:

A Carrot slice looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and YES, science now shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over three dozen neurotransmitters for brain function.

Kidney beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok choy and Rhubarb look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocados and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? .... It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in two’s when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the number of sperm to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives promote the health and function of the ovaries.

Grapefruits, Oranges, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually promote the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears, which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

Chiropractic is cool with the U.S. Government

Those who remain skeptical about the health benefits associated with chiropractic adjustments may be interested to learn the U.S. government’s point of view regarding the topic.

At the end of May 2008 the U.S. House of Representatives officially recognized chiropractic adjustments to be part of a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, they have approved a directive that orders the Pentagon to make chiropractic care a standard benefit for all active-duty military personnel.

The bill — passed by the Armed Services Committee on May 14 and the full House on May 22 — also contains language allowing for chiropractic demonstration projects at overseas military locations and clarifies that chiropractic care at U.S. military facilities is to be performed only by a doctor of chiropractic.

To date, Doctors of Chiropractic are at 49 military bases around the country.
