Chiropractic helps your body resist disease

Exactly how powerful is the experience of receiving a chiropractic adjustment? New evidence suggests that chiropractic care does much more than alleviate back pain—it positively affects body chemistry all the way down to the cellular level. In a nutshell, chiropractic adjustments strengthen the body, making cells and DNA more resistant to disease.

In March 2006, the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research published a landmark study that offered a long-awaited scientific explanation for why chiropractic patients experience positive health benefits. The article stated that chiropractic care could stimulate basic physiological processes that help diminish bodily stress and enhance DNA repair.

In the study, a diverse group of 76 people were divided into three categories. Group one received short-term chiropractic care. Group two received long-term chiropractic care. Group three was the control group that did not receive chiropractic adjustments. Results indicated that long-term chiropractic care of two or more years produced healthier bodies. Age, sex, nutritional supplements and prior health conditions did not hinder or enhance these results. Basically stated, chiropractic adjustment improved the overall health of everyone in groups one and two.

To look at the study results on a deeper, more scientific level, let’s examine the average human body. Everything from your career, to your family dynamic, to your eating and sleeping habits produces physical, chemical and emotional stress in your body. These stresses can obstruct and negatively affect your nervous system, which in turn hinders your body’s ability to produce naturally occurring antioxidants that fight off disease and other illness.

However, chiropractic adjustment works to remove obstructions to the nervous system. This allows internal body processes to begin functioning at normal levels, thus enhancing the body’s ability to produce healthy chemicals that work to protect cells and DNA from becoming mutated by disease.

We want safer vaccines

Parents, politicians and organizations are now questioning vaccination safety to an extent we've never seen before. "We're not anti-vaccine, we just want safer vaccines," they say. They are discussing "splitting up" the vaccine schedule so children get less shots on one visit and making vaccines "green" which I guess means taking the mercury out of them.

There is nothing "green" (natural) about vaccination.

The goal of vaccination is to do what the immune system is designed to prevent. Vaccination bypasses the skin and mucous membranes by injecting bacteria, viri and toxic chemicals deep inside the body where these substances have access to the blood and internal organs. And - most importantly - where the body cannot develop an acute immune response to detoxify and cleanse.

If there is no fever or no rash, that is bad. Your body needs to expel toxins and vaccination prevents that. You are never as healthy when there are foreign proteins, toxins and bizarre chemicals in your body. The result is neurological and immune diseases, which were rare or non-existent years ago - autism, asthma, allergies, ADD, ADHD, arthritis, autoimmune diseases - and we're just at the A's. The list goes on and on - brain tumors, cancer, diabetes, lupus, hearing problems, otitis media, visual problems, tics, nervous disorders. Do you know any normal kids - no chronic illness, no dyslexia, no allergies, no learning disorders, no emotional dysfunction? They are getting rarer and rarer.

Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort of character and the sort of beliefs that the authorities consider desirable, and any serious criticism of the powers that be will become psychologically impossible. Even if all are miserable, all will believe themselves happy, because the government will tell them that they are so. - Bertrand Russell, The Impact of Science on Society, 1953, p.50

As Empricial healers, chiropractors rebel against this painful, unnatural, bizarre 18th century medical rite. Come to think of it, vaccination is the only medical procedure from the18th century that we still practice. One day it will be considered as barbaric as bloodletting¬ - probably worse.

Safer vaccines? There is no safe vaccine. When it comes to vaccines just say "no thank you."

Washington Post Contest

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

Here are this year's winners. Read them carefully. Each is an artificial word with only one letter altered to form a real word. Some are terrifically innovative:

1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start With.

2. Reintarnation : Coming Back to life as a hillbilly ..

3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

4. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.

5. Giraffiti: Vandalism Spray-painted very, very high.

6. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

7. Inoculatte : To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

8. Hipatitis: Terminal Coolness.

9. Osteopornosis: A Degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

10. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's, like, a serious bummer.

11. Decafalon (n.): The gruelling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

12. Glibido: All talk and no Action.

13. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when
they come at you rapidly.

14. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

16. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.

And the #1 pick:
17. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an a##hole.

Sciatica

The sciatic nerves are the largest and longest nerves in the body. They exit your lower spine and group together in the pelvis, then split off into two branches, with a branch running down the back of each buttock, leg and into the foot.

When one of these nerves becomes inflamed, the condition is called sciatica. Symptoms include pain radiating from the lower back into the buttock and down the back or outside of the leg. The pain can come on suddenly, like a lightning bold, or it can present itself as a dull, nagging toothache type of pain.

Often times sciatica is caused by a misalignment in the lower spine. If a vertebrae shifts out of place, it can put pressure on the sciatic nerve, which results in irritation and inflammation. The good news is that this type of sciatica can often be successfully treated through a series of painless chiropractic adjustments.

Vertigo

Yesterday a lady came in with extreme vertigo (dizziness). She had been referred to us by another patient.

She had been in the hospital for 3 days, but all sorts of tests, scans could not find the cause.

When she walked in , she had to be assisted with walking. I checked her, and her Atlas (C1 Vertebra) was subluxated.

After the adjustment, she could immediately walk without help! The people in the waiting room (and even my staff) were shocked!

Doctors: Do as I say, Not as I do

Why are family physicians telling us to “get the flu shot” when less than half of them are being immunized themselves? This statistic, reported in ModernMedicine.com, raises a big red flag in regards to the validity of immunizations in general.

In 2006 it was found that 58 percent of health care workers had not received a flu shot that season. This goes against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation that every health care professional be vaccinated against influenza.

So why are doctors pushing flu shots when many of them are refusing the injection themselves? Maybe they know something we don’t, or maybe they just want to put more money in their own pockets. Regardless the reason, the equation doesn’t add up.

In the face of a rapidly growing public outcry against all forms of vaccination, perhaps we could learn something from the 58 percent of the medical professionals who are against receiving a flu shot. Perhaps these physicians have read read the medical studies that warn of deadly chemicals found in vaccinations spreading more harm than good. Or maybe it’s the frightening parallel between the rise of autism and the induction of a new chemical mixture administered in early childhood immunizations.

These days, it’s difficult, if not impossible, to rely on the medical community to tell us the “truth.” We can no longer rely on medicine to keep us healthy; it’s time to take our health matters into our own hands. Look around, the healthiest people in the world aren’t on medication. Instead, they’ve been choosing to eat a healthy diet, they avoid junk food, they maintain the health of their spine through chiropractic adjustments, they exercise, and they have their weight under control. It’s a simple method to achieve health, and it doesn’t involve a flu shot.

Drug Errors Hurt 1 in 15 Hospitalized Kids

The above headline comes from an April 7, 2008, CNN story reporting on the large number of medical errors children receive while in hospitals in the US. The article starts off by saying, "Medicine mix-ups, accidental overdoses and bad drug reactions harm roughly one out of 15 hospitalized children, according to the first scientific test of a new detection method."

The new detection method mentioned in the article was described in a study published in the April 1, 2008 issue of the scientific journal, "Pediatrics", the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. According to the published journal study, "The purposes of this study were to develop a pediatric-focused tool for adverse drug event detection and describe the incidence and characteristics of adverse drug events in children's hospitals identified by this tool." The researchers described the tool as an actual "trigger method" that used certain indicators or "flags" to find adverse drug reactions in children as opposed to the previous method of depending on reports from supervising adults.

The results of the study showed that the rate of adverse drug events (ADE) was much higher than previously thought. Dr. Charles Homer of the National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality, whose group helped develop the detection tool used in the study, stated, "These data and the Dennis Quaid episode are telling us that ... these kinds of errors and experiencing harm as a result of your health care is much more common than people believe. It's very concerning." In the CNN article, Dr. Homer referenced the recent news that actor Dennis Quaid's newborn twins got accidental life-threatening heparin overdoses in a Los Angeles hospital.

The study looked at 960 randomly selected children's charts from 12 children's hospitals and looked for the specific "triggers" in these charts. Researchers found that adverse drug event rates were 11.1 per 100 patients, 15.7 per 1000 patient-days, and 1.23 per 1000 medication doses. The study also showed that 22% of all adverse drug events were deemed preventable, 17.8% could have been identified earlier, and 16.8% could have been handled better.

Possibly the most disturbing portion of the study was that, according to researchers, only 3.7% of the adverse drug events would have been identified by previous methods. Researchers concluded, "Adverse drug event rates in hospitalized children are substantially higher than previously described. Most adverse drug events resulted in temporary harm, and 22% were classified as preventable."

Birthing Trauma

One of the most traumatic events of your life was most likely your birth and it may be responsible for your “bad back” or other less than desirable physical conditions you’ve been experiencing.

During a normal birth monitored by physicians in a hospital it’s common for extreme measures to be taken in an effort to pull and pry the baby out of the mother (think forceps and suction.) When these processes occur, the baby’s neck and spine are being pulled and stretched with forces up to 70 pounds!

A study examining the ability of a newborn’s spine to resist injury from over stretching has shown that 90 pounds of pressure was enough to completely separate and dislocate vertebrae in the neck and spine. Less pressures (as used in most hospitals) have the ability to cause mild to severe soft tissue, spinal cord and/or brainstem injury.

In Australia it’s somewhat common practice for a chiropractor to be on staff in the delivery room. Immediately upon birth the baby is examined for misaligned vertebrae and gently adjusted by the chiropractor, thus giving the baby the best head start in life it could possibly receive—a spinal cord free from obstruction so that the brain can fully communicate with, and continue to properly develop, the rest of the body.

No child is too young to receive these gentle chiropractic adjustments. Make sure your child or grandchild is receiving the head start in life they deserve. Have their spine regularly evaluated and adjusted (when necessary) by a chiropractor.

Vytorin warnings neglected

It’s all over the news this week; people taking the potentially life-threatening, cholesterol lowering medication, Vytorin, should think twice before continuing its use.

Vytorin is a widely popular anti-cholesterol drug that is prescribed to about 4 million Americans. Yet when a major study, recently published by the New England Journal of Medicine, compared this medication to other drugs in its category, Vytorin's benefit claims fell flat. It was also shown to cost about five times more than other similar drugs that perform on a similar level.

Wait, the bad news just gets worse.

In 2004 when pharmaceutical companies were pushing for Vytorin’s release to the public, the FDA’s very own pharmacology reviewer found that even the smallest dose of Vytorin caused severe toxicity in laboratory animals and recommended against its approval. Yet somehow this dangerous drug still got FDA approval and has now raked in over 5 million dollars for its manufacturers, Merck & Co. and Schering-Plough Corp.

Since its approval, scores of people taking Vytorin have reported all kinds of serious side effects that have dramatically reduced the quality of their life, often times leading to hospitalization. The side effects of this drug can be so bad that New England Journal of Medicine says is should only be taken as a last resort.

Despite the public’s outcry to know the truth about Vytorin, the two pharmaceutical companies behind the pill are shrugging off the concerns, saying they will continue to make and promote their drug.

It’s clear that pharmaceutical companies are in the business of making money, not health. The good news is that you can drastically enhance your health by taking simple steps, like eating plenty of fresh produce (think vegetables and fruits), and avoiding processed foods and foods high in sugar. You’ll be surprised at what an impact your diet has on internal body processes—like the ability to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease.

Another simple way to improve your health is to schedule regular chiropractic adjustments. By maintaining a healthy spine, you’ll be opening the door to health in other areas of your body, as well.
