Taking its toll

It's hard to believe how hard a busy day of adjusting is on your body. Actually, today was extremely hectic and now I can hardly walk without looking like and old man.

I guess I have to see what I'm doing different that's affecting me so much. Well..we are getting busier too, so that might be it.

Anyway, we are spending the Thanksgiving holidays with my family in the north Georgia mountains. I have almost a whole week to recoup and be back in decent shape for Monday.

Short Leg Syndrome

One of the ways we chiropractors use to determine subluxation is by measuring leg length inequality-i.e."Which leg is shorter?"

I was explaining this to a new patient today, and she just thought this just was hilarious and refused to believe that her spinal condition could affect the leg length.

I had to whip out my cell phone and take a picture and show her. I could even tell she was still doubtful even after I showed her the image.

After the adjustment she said that she was impressed and feeling a lot better and didn't really care how I found out what was wrong with her, just glad that it was better.

Run down and tired

As some of you know, this past week has been exhausting-waking up at 4 AM on some days staying at health fairs until 9 PM. Well, today I was feeling run down, and felt like I was going to come down with whatever virus is going around...

I really haven't been taking care of myself like I should, (adjustments, sleeping, etc.) so I was feeling so tired and run down that I figured I might take some extra VIBE.

There was a little left in a bottle, maybe 2 1/2 ounces (I usually only take 1 a day) and I decided I needed a little extra.

WOW! ... Within minutes my nose cleared up, I perked up and stopped feeling sorry for myself.., and best of all that deep, tired feeling is gone.

I recommend VIBE to my patients, carry it on the shelf -but this has made me really excited about this stuff.

If you've never tried it-get yourself a bottle today.

Snooty and condescending

We have been doing an incredible amount of health fairs lately, and we usually get placed fairly close to the flu shot people. I usually don't complain because that is a good high-traffic location with plently of movement and we always do well right by them. What irked me this morning, however, is the snooty and condescending way that the girls working the booth answered when someone was concerned about getting the flu due to the shot itself.

Maybe one of the problems with healthcare in this country is that we assume that most people are a bunch of idiots and can't be trusted to make their own healthcare choices.

Let's make them feel stupid if they ask too many questions.

Three important reasons to avoid the flu shot:

1 The flu shot contains formaldehyde, gelatin and traces of chicken cells.
2 The flu shot contains viral contaminants that have been linked to cancer.
3 You can get the flu shot – and all the risks that go with it – and still get the flu!

There's more about the flu shot in our previous newsletter-"Autumn and Flu Shots"

Autism, Linked to vaccines?

For several years lawmakers have heard a growing outcry from parents and advocacy groups who believe autism is directly related to childhood vaccinations. This year, lawmakers were finally ready to address the issue on Capitol Hill. The bill—the Vaccine Safety and Public Assurance Act of 2006—was introduced during the summer by Rep. Dave Weldon of Florida. Weldon’s bill proposes that a new authority regarding vaccine safety be established to replace the voice of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) due to the CDC’s ties to pharmaceutical manufacturers who produce the vaccines. The legislation would create a brand new agency to oversee vaccine safety issues and research.

In the midst of the controversy, the CDC claims that recent studies indicate no link between childhood vaccinations and developmental disorders, such as autism. What the CDC failed to report is just how little research they had actually done on the subject.

Even more disturbing is that the CDC does not recognize the harm in using Thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used in all childhood vaccines up until the year 2004. As the public outcry for the ban on thimerosal intensified, the federal government banned the use of mercury in vaccines, but only as a precautionary measure. Three years later an independent study concluded that a link DOES exist between thimerosal and autism. But the Institutes of Medicine, contacted by the CDC to study the possible link, conducted their own study that there was no connection. This study is still being used today as the official position on the issue. It also explains why the government still allows the use of Thimerosal in the Flu shot.

Meanwhile, parents of the over 140,000 autistic kids in the U.S. are struggling to understand why the cases of autism have skyrocketed by 500 percent over the last decade. Experts now estimate that one in every 166 children in the U.S. has been diagnosed with autism.

Until our government can established a non-biased research group to take a closer look at medicine and it’s affects on the human body, we need to do all we can to keep ourselves healthy. Start by making chiropractic adjustments part of your regular lifestyle routine.

What's in a Flu Shot?

Before you get your next (bird) flu shot, watch this short vid and make sure it's something you really think you need.

The Girls at the mall

Nothing related to health here-just pictures of my daughters that I took the other day when we were at the mall.
